Day 5 - Bungle Bungle to Kununurra
Wake to the symphony of birds in their native surroundings and enjoy a cooked breakfast before starting the day. For a different view of the Bungle Bungle, today’s tour will take you through Echidna Chasm and the northern end of Purnululu National Park.
This tour begins with a 45-60 minute drive heading north along the Western Wall of the Bungle Bungle Range. On arrival follow your local guide along a rocky path nestled between cliffs into Echidna Chasm. At points, this path can narrow to a width of less than 1.5 metres. On either side of you, towering walls of orange stone scattered with Livistona Palm trees will reach skywards, seeming as though they are lit from within.
As this walk requires a significant amount of climbing over boulders and navigating stairs, we advise that this tour be embarked upon by those with full mobility. The walking component of this tour is approximately 3 hours long. Whilst out and about, enjoy a tasty picnic lunch.
After your tour, board your plane and continue return via a scenic flight back to Kununurra. Fly over the Argyle Diamond Mine, Bow River, Lake Argyle and the Ord Irrigation Area. Touch down in Kununurra and be transferred to your accommodation.
Check-in and relax for the evening. You may like to book into The PumpHouse Restaurant located on the water of Lake Kununurra for dinner.
Accommodation: Freshwater Apartments – One Bedroom Apartment
Enjoy a morning at your leisure relaxing by the pool. You might prefer to take a walk through Celebrity Tree park or into town.
You will be collected from your accommodation at 11:30am and taken by coach through Durack country to Lake Argyle (70km). As you near Lake Argyle, we will take a short break at the historic Durack Homestead Museum. This museum was constructed as a replica of the original family homestead that was submerged when the Dam was originally built. This version uses the original homestead stone.
Re-boarding the coach, drive the short distance to Lake Argyle Resort before viewing the enormous Lake Argyle from a scenic look out. Crossing the Ord Top Dam wall guests will see the Ord Hydro Power Station before boarding their boat for a scenic 55km cruise back to Kununurra.
Marvel at the spectacular scenery, wildlife, flora and fauna found along the way, including the elusive freshwater crocodile! Enjoy afternoon tea at a private riverside camp before heading back to Kununurra. Take in a colourful East Kimberley sunset before docking back at the marina and re-boarding your coach for your accommodation drop off at around 6:00pm.

Day 7 - Mitchell Falls
An early start with a complimentary pick up from at approximately 5:15am by Aviair. A light breakfast is offered on check-in at the terminal.
Your scenic flight will depart at 6:00am taking you over the Ord River Irrigation Area, Carlton Hill Station, Wyndham and the Cambridge Gulf before reaching the coast.
Along the way you will witness stunning views of beautifully patterned mud flats near Wyndham, as well as the magnificent King River, Berkeley River Gorge, King George Falls and Kalumburu. This flight touches down at the remote Mitchell Plateau Airstrip where you disembark and board HeliSpirits’ helicopter that will transfer you from the airstrip to the beginning of the walk to the Mitchell Falls.
Follow your tour guide on a challenging 4.5km hike to the stunning Mitchell Falls. Experience the different eco systems the plateau has to offer, view ancient aboriginal rock art and marvel at Little and Big Mertens falls. The hike can be challenging at points, with uneven tracks and river crossings, so there is an option to take a helicopter transfer straight from the airstrip to the falls at no additional cost. This must be booked in advance though.
Once arriving at the falls, you will have time to marvel at their beauty. Take a swim in the Mitchell River above the falls and enjoy a fresh picnic style lunch.
You will be transferred via helicopter from the top of the falls back to the airstrip, where you will board your return flight to Kununurra. On the flight home, you will pass over King Edward River, remote cattle stations and the Cockburn Ranges before touching town in Kununurra.
