Day 2 - Bungle Bungle & Cathedral Gorge Tour + 30 minute Helicopter Flight

Today your adventure begins with a scenic flight departing Kununurra passing over Lake Argyle, the Ord River Irrigation Area, Carr Boyd and Osmand Ranges, Ord and Bow Rivers and Bungle Bungle Range. Your plane will land at the remote and unsealed Bellburn Airstrip in Purnululu National Park where you will be met by your experienced guide.

From here you will be driven in an air-conditioned 4WD vehicle to the beginning of your guided walk. Your guide will lead you on a moderate 3km walk throughout the famous eroded towers and beehive-shaped domes on the Domes Walk. Head towards Cathedral Gorge, where you can walk alongside towering cliffs which create phenomenal natural acoustics within the Gorge. Refuel with a tasty picnic lunch after a morning of exploring. You will then head out along the rocky creek bed of Piccaninny Creek, which only flows during periods of high rainfall.

On return to Bellburn Airstrip you will join HeliSpirit and experience an incredible 30 minute scenic helicopter flight over the Bungles! This will be a highlight of your Kimberley adventure!

After a day of exploring, relax in your cabin or by the pool at Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge, and take in a beautiful East Kimberley sunset.  Dinner is served at the Lodge at approx. 6:30pm, and can be eaten either inside the lodge dining room, or under the stars in our alfresco dining area.

Overnight: Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge – Ensuite Cabin

** Morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea & dinner included

Day 3 - Echidna Chasm & Northern End Tour

This morning enjoy a delicious breakfast before embarking on your Northern Tour of Purnululu National Park for a different view of the Bungles.

Today’s tour will take you through Echidna Chasm and the northern end of Purnululu National Park. This begins with a 45-60 minute scenic 4WD trek along the western side of the Bungle Bungle Range.  Follow your local guide along a rocky path nestled between cliffs into Echidna Chasm.  At points, this path can narrow to a width of less than 1.5 metres. On either side of you, towering walls of orange stone scattered with Livistona palm trees will reach skywards, seeming as though they are lit from within.

As this walk requires a significant amount of climbing over boulders and navigating ladders, we advise this tour is suitable only for those with full mobility.  You will enjoy a tasty picnic lunch whilst enjoying more spectacular scenery of Purnululu National Park.

In the afternoon, return to Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge to relax after another day of amazing adventures.

Overnight: Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge – Private ensuite cabin

** Breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea & dinner included

Emma Gorge Tented Ensuite Cabin

Day 4 - Emma Gorge

After Breakfast, depart Purnululu National Park on your scenic flight back to Kununurra.  Enjoy aerial views of the Bungle Bungle Range, with a birds eye view of Piccaninny Gorge, Y Gorge and Red Rock Gorge.  Orbit over the Argyle Diamond Mine where the famous pink diamonds were mined before arriving in Kununurra.

If you do not have your own vehicle, collect your 4WD Hire Car and travel to Emma Gorge located on El Questro Station.  This 1 hour drive will have you at Emma Gorge around lunch time.

Check into your Safari style tented cabin, enjoy a relax by the pool or walk into the beautiful Emma Gorge itself.

Overnight: Emma Gorge Resort – Safari-style tented cabin

** Breakfast included

Day 5 - Emma Gorge & El Questro

Enjoy a day at your leisure at Emma Gorge & El Questro.  If self-guiding adventures are your thing or if you prefer experienced guided tours, we can suggest activities and experiences that will suit your adventure and fitness level.  With 700,000 acres to explore, we understand that “where to start” may be difficult.

Suggested Optional Extra: Miri Miri Falls Helicopter Flight with a Picnic and Swim – 2 hours in duration. $539 per person – not included in itinerary price.

Hidden in a remote corner of El Questro is Miri Miri Falls.  Spring-fed water cascades over a 50m fall from the plateau into a deep pool, then into a dense alley of Livistona palms and paperbark trees.  Take a dip in the refreshing pool surrounded by nature then enjoy a picnic lunch with beer or sparkling wine, all while revelling in one of El Questro’s most secluded attractions.

Overnight: Emma Gorge – Ensuite Tented Cabin

**  Breakfast included at Emma Gorge Resort

Day 6 - Lake Argyle Sunset Cruise

After breakfast at Emma Gorge Resort, begin the return journey by car back to Kununurra (approx. 1 hour drive).  Check in time at Freshwater Apartments is not until 2.00pm but they will be happy to store your luggage for you if required.

Around 12.15pm you will be collected by Lake Argyle Cruises coach and transported to Lake Argyle.  Enjoy commentary about the local area, communities and industries with our experience driver.  Stop at the Durack Homestead Museum and learn about this pioneering family before meeting up with your skipper for the afternoon

As the old saying goes, “red sky at night, sailors’ delight” and there’s no better way to experience a breath-taking Lake Argyle sunset than out on the water! On this popular sunset cruise, explore the rugged northern end of Lake Argyle while navigating through some of the lake’s 90 islands and inlets.  Your Skipper will entertain and inform with commentary on the natural history and development of Lake Argyle, the Ord River Irrigation System and the Aquaculture Industry.  You’ll encounter Rock Wallabies, Freshwater Crocodiles, Wallaroos (Euros) and the diverse array of birdlife that call Lake Argyle home.

You’ll be delighted and awed by the Archer Fish that shoot water up at your hand with amazing precision. You’ll watch a Catfish feeding frenzy (also known by the fancier term of ‘Silver Cobbler’).

As the sun sinks behind the glorious Carr Boyd Ranges, you’ll enjoy a swim in the Lake with a complimentary drink and nibbles to make the most of this magic time of day.  With rugged red cliffs reflecting into the blue water, Lake Argyle is the ultimate place to catch the last golden rays of the Kimberley sun.

Overnight: Freshwater Apartments – One Bedroom Apartment

** Breakfast included at Emma Gorge Resort & nibbles are provided on your Lake Argyle Sunset Cruise
