Day 2 - Waterfall Heli Adventure or Mitchell Falls Discoverer

Choose your adventure!

Option A – Waterfall Heli Adventure + Swim

Elevate your waterfall-chasing experience with this thrilling heli-adventure. Take in breathtaking views of Kununurra, the Ord River, and the surrounding farmland and ranges. The flight path varies based on which waterfalls are most impressive on the day.

Land at a remote waterfall or secret spring for a refreshing swim and a BYO picnic.

Option B – Mitchell Falls Discoverer  ( Surcharge applies)

Starting in Kununurra, this tour begins with a scenic fixed-wing flight over the Ord River Irrigation Area, Carlton Hill Station, and Wyndham before reaching the remote Kimberley coastline. Along the way, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the winding King River near Wyndham, Berkeley River Gorge, King George Falls, and Kalumburu.

The flight lands at the remote Mitchell Plateau Airstrip, where you’ll disembark and board a HeliSpirit helicopter for a transfer to the Mitchell Falls campground, the starting point for the hike to Mitchell Falls. From there, your guide will lead you on a 4.5km trek through diverse ecosystems, including Aboriginal rock art at Little Mertens Falls. Be prepared for some challenging sections with uneven terrain and river crossings.

If you prefer not to hike, you can opt for a complimentary helicopter transfer from the campground to the falls, which must be arranged at the time of booking.

Once at the top of Mitchell Falls, you’ll have time to take in the spectacular views, swim in the Mitchell River above the falls, and explore the unique flora and fauna. Enjoy a picnic-style lunch before your return journey to Kununurra. You’ll take a helicopter ride back to the airstrip and board a scenic fixed-wing flight that passes over the Cockburn Range, ending your adventure with a landing in Kununurra.

That evening, experience one of Kununurra’s most unique dining experiences! Your dinner adventure starts at 4.15pm when you will be met  by your host Josh for your next amazing experience.  Getting there is all part of the fun, you will climb on board his purpose designed vehicle, whilst listening to yarns and tunes along the rugged way to your dining experience.  Sit back and relax as the sun sets over the East Kimberley while sipping on a complimentary Spinifex Brewery alcoholic Ginger Beer.

The sunset transforms into a starlit sky, the perfect setting for your 3-course gourmet dinner, entree, main and dessert.  All dishes are created with an emphasis on flavour and freshness using a combination of bush tucker and locally sourced produce.  BYO drinks are welcome and ice is provided. Returns to the Resort at approximately 7.30pm

Day 3 - Purnululu National Park

Start your adventure with an exciting scenic flight from Kununurra, flying over the Ord Irrigation Area, Lake Argyle, and the Bungle Bungle Range. Land at Bellburn airstrip in Purnululu National Park.

Upon arrival, your guide will meet you and take you further into the Bungle Bungle Range in an air-conditioned 4WD bus. From there, enjoy a 3km guided walk through the iconic black-and-orange banded domes on the Domes Walk. You’ll then explore Cathedral Gorge, where towering cliffs create stunning natural acoustics. Walk along Piccaninny Creek’s rocky bed, which only flows during the wet season, and refuel with a picnic lunch.

Next, you’ll embark on a 60-minute drive to the park’s northern end, along the Western Wall of the Bungle Bungle Range. Once there, you will hike through the narrow Echidna Chasm, where the path between the cliffs narrows to just 1.5 meters in some spots. This 1.5-hour walk can be challenging and requires full mobility.

As the day comes to an end, enjoy a swim and take in the sunset from the Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge. Your private ensuite cabin is the perfect place to rest your head after a big day of adventuring. Dinner is served buffet style, with the option to dine indoors or under the stars.

Overnight: Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge – Double Ensuite Cabin

Day 4 - Piccaninny Gorge Heli-Hike

After breakfast, your guide will transport you to Bellburn airstrip to begin your day’s adventure.

Here you will meet your HeliSpirit pilot, who will run through a safety briefing and run-down of the day ahead. Once in the helicopter, fly over the southwest of the Bungle Bungle to “Y” Gorge before soaring across the top of the enormous massif to the mouth of spectacular Piccaninny Gorge where we land. This enormous gorge spreads into five fingers as it cuts through the Bungle Bungle Range. Your guide will lead the hike into the gorge and tell you about the area’s cultural significance to the Aboriginal people and its unique history, which led to the World Heritage listing of Purnululu National Park.

The hike is up to 10km return and requires a high level of fitness and mobility. The rocky creek bed of Piccaninny Gorge is classed as a level 6 walk.

Your return helicopter flight continues along the southern face, following Piccaninny Creek where you can view the mouth of Cathedral Gorge and soar amongst the famous orange and black striped sandstone beehive-shaped domes.

Upon returning to the Savannah Lodge, enjoy a refreshing swim and be sure to enjoy sunset from the viewing point a short stroll away.

Overnight: Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge – Double Ensuite Cabin

Or why not hike into Amalia Gorge for on of the more scenic swimming spots within El Questro. That evening, sleep in a Riverview Room at El Questro Station. Located on the Pentecost River beside a peaceful water hole, you will enjoy this view from your private patio. With well-appointed Queen size beds, a single day bed, modern bathrooms, tea and coffee-making facilities and air conditioning, these rooms are family-friendly as well as perfect for those looking for a few extra comforts to make their time at El Questro relaxing and one to remember forever.
