The PumpHouse Kununurra is an iconic East Kimberley establishment offering delicious food made with locally grown produce, an insight into the fascinating history of Kununurra, and the best place to watch the sun go down on another remarkable day in Australia’s North West.

We have a strong focus on building relationships with local producers, which is reflected in our ever-changing seasonal menus. We take inspiration from the richly diverse country around us, incorporating flavours and ingredients to create modern, creative, and most importantly, delicious dishes that show off the local produce in their true glory.

The PumpHouse Kununurra, originally built as a pump station as part of the Ord River Irrigation Scheme in 1959, was decommissioned in 2004. In 2007, Kununurra locals Thomas and Dominique Brieg secured the lease and began the enormous job of transforming the Pump Station into a restaurant. You’ll find the PumpHouse just a stone’s throw from town, perched on the shores of Lake Kununurra.

Enjoy sunset drinks overlooking this tranquil setting as the sun disappears under the horizon. Choose the air-conditioned comfort of the interior seating area surrounded by the original pumps of the Ord Pump Station, or the outdoor balcony overlooking Lake Kununurra.

Dinners and sunset drink are the specialty however in the Kununurra “dry season” the PumpHouse also opens for breakfast and lunch on the weekends.
